Acting in an advisory role, I will do a records review and use my years of experience to help families navigate the processes of evaluations, eligibility disputes, service reductions, and formal complaints or mediation.
Special Education advocates do records review for $250 and advise families as to how to proceed. Upfront payment is required before a record review is completed.
Early, accessible advocacy can help avoid costly delays or legal escalation. Thorough records review and documentation analysis is vital for strategic planning and goal-setting for the family.
Upon completing the records review and determination of services, the hourly rate is $150/hour, billed in 15 minute increments.
A retainer of $3000 will be billed and the hourly rate will be subtracted from the retainer.
Travel and Expenses: Mileage and time are charged to the client at $1.00 / mile for travel outside the greater Chicago metropolitan area, calculated from the Lessons Learned Education Services business address; the first 50 miles are complimentary. Overnight accommodations, if required, are payable by the client.
Basic consultations, document reviews, full-service representation, drafting family concerns, preparing for and attending IEP meetings, and following up with written communication are available for a fee. An estimate will be provided after hearing the details of the family's IEP/504 situation.
